About Spaces
Learn what spaces are on SupaSpace, how to create and publish spaces step-by-step, manage pricing, sub-spaces, extras, and publishing states.
What Is a Space?
Spaces are the actual units that guests acquire on SupaSpace.
A space can represent:
-
An entire property.
-
A space within a property.
For example, an entire hotel building can be represented by a space if the hotel itself is being acquired. Alternatively, an individual hotel room can be a space within the hotel property.
Spaces can be acquired through any of SupaSpace's five acquisition types:
-
booking -
rent -
lease -
sale -
bidding
The acquisition type determines how the guest acquires and uses the space.
How Spaces Relate to Properties
Every space belongs to a property.
If the property itself is not for acquisition, you first create the property and then add one or more spaces inside it.
For example:
Property: Apartment Building
Spaces: Apartment 1, Apartment 2, Apartment 3
Each apartment can then be configured and listed independently.
If the property itself is for acquisition, SupaSpace creates a space representing the property.
For example:
Property: Hotel Building
Space: Entire Hotel Building
This allows the property itself to go through the normal space acquisition process.
Important:
A space is what guests actually acquire on SupaSpace, even when that space represents an entire property.
How to Add a Space
Before you can add a space, you must have a property.
Go to the Properties page, open the property where the space belongs, and click Add Space.
The space setup process is divided into several stages.
Let's go through each stage.
Stage 1: Initial Details
The first stage is where you provide the basic information about your space.
One particularly important setting is the currency.
Choose Your Space Currency
Select the currency in which the space will be acquired.
Important: Payment options and extras attached to a space must use the same currency as the space.
You cannot attach a payment option or extra cost using a different currency.
Deadline
The Deadline field represents when you intend to stop offering the space for acquisition.
In other words, it is the date or point at which you intend to close the space and remove it from active listing.
Share
The Share option determines whether two or more people can acquire the same space at the same time.
This can be useful for spaces where multiple people are expected to share the same space and each person pays toward the acquisition.
For example, this can be useful for hostels or shared accommodation where multiple guests occupy the same space.
After entering the initial details, click Save and Continue.
Stage 2: Gallery
The next stage is the Gallery.
This is where you add visual content for your space.
You can add:
-
Images.
-
Videos.
For a space to be listed, you must provide the required gallery content.
The gallery supports:
-
At least 4 images.
-
Up to 2 videos.
-
Each video must be less than 50 MB.
Important: Any stage marked with an asterisk (*) is required for the space to be listed.
Make sure you complete all required stages before attempting to publish the space.
Tip: Good images and videos are important because they give potential guests a better understanding of the space before they decide to acquire it.
Stage 3: Payment Options
The next stage is Payment Options.
Payment options are created from the Payment Options page and then attached to your space during this stage.
You must attach at least one payment option to a space before it can be listed.
You can attach multiple payment options when you want to provide guests with different ways to pay or different pricing arrangements.
Bidding Spaces
There is one important exception.
For spaces listed for bidding, you can attach only one payment option.
This payment option represents the base or starting price for the bidding process.
Important:
Make sure the currency of every payment option matches the currency selected for the space.
Stage 4: Features
Features are optional.
At this stage, you can attach feature groups to your space.
Features are created and managed from the Space Features page.
For example, you could attach features describing:
-
Wi-Fi.
-
Parking.
-
Air conditioning.
-
Swimming pool.
-
Furnished rooms.
-
Other amenities.
Attaching features helps guests understand what your space offers.
Stage 5: Subspaces
Subspaces are optional.
A subspace is another space contained within the space being acquired.
For example, an apartment could be the main space, while its:
-
Kitchen.
-
Living room.
-
Bedroom.
-
Bathroom.
could be represented as subspaces.
Subspaces are part of the main space and are not independently acquired.
You can add images and videos to subspaces so guests can see the different areas included in the main space.
For each subspace, you can add:
-
At least 2 images.
-
Up to 2 videos.
Important:
Subspaces are not independent spaces.
They belong directly to the main space and are created from the space itself rather than being attached to the property as separate spaces.
Stage 6: Restrictions
Restrictions are optional.
This section allows you to highlight important restrictions that guests should know about before acquiring the space.
You can also include restrictions in your conditions or agreements.
However, the Restrictions section gives you a way to make key restrictions more visible to guests.
For example, you may want to highlight rules relating to:
-
Occupancy.
-
Usage.
-
Pets.
-
Activities.
-
Access.
-
Other important limitations.
Tip: Use this section for restrictions that you particularly want guests to notice before they proceed. Your full terms and conditions can contain the more comprehensive rules.
Stage 7: Extras
Extras are optional additional costs or add-ons associated with acquiring a space.
Extras are created on the Extra Costs page and then attached to the space during this stage.
An extra can represent something such as an additional service, charge, or optional add-on.
Compulsory Extras
Some extras can be marked as compulsory.
A compulsory extra is automatically included in the space's pricing when applicable.
Guarantee Extras
Some extras can be configured as guarantees.
A guarantee is an amount paid by the guest as an assurance that they will fulfill certain terms of the contract.
When the applicable conditions are met, the guest receives the guarantee amount back at the end of the contract.
Important: Make sure you understand whether an extra is optional, compulsory, or a guarantee before attaching it to your space. These settings affect how the extra is handled during the acquisition.
Stage 8: Local Taxes
Local taxes are optional.
At this stage, you can attach local tax rates to your space.
Tax rates are created from the Local Taxes page and then attached to spaces during this stage.
Local taxes can be used for taxes that apply in your jurisdiction but are not already handled by Foxstation.
Important: Do not attach a local tax if your jurisdiction does not authorize you to collect that tax on its behalf.
Important: You must also not attach a tax that SupaSpace or Foxstation already collects.
Important: You are responsible for remitting any local taxes collected through your space to the appropriate authorities.
Stage 9: Publishing
Publishing is the final stage of the space setup process.
Before publishing, you confirm that:
-
The information you provided is valid.
-
You have the right to list the space.
-
The space is suitable for acquisition under the information and configuration you have provided.
You can use this stage to:
-
Publish the space.
-
Publish the space as a preview.
-
Close an already published space.
Preview
You can publish a space as a preview when the space is not yet ready for acquisition but you still want people to know about it.
This can be useful when you want to showcase an upcoming space before it becomes available for actual acquisition.
Closing a Space
You can also close an already published space from the publishing stage.
Closing a space removes it from active acquisition.
Helpful Field Information
Throughout the space creation process, you may notice an information icon β an i inside a circle.
Tip: Click the information icon to learn what a particular field is used for. If you are unsure about a field, check its information description before entering your value.
Viewing All Your Spaces
If you want to see all your spaces regardless of which property they belong to, go to the Spaces page.
The Spaces page gives you a centralized view of your spaces.
From there, you can perform several actions.
Edit a Space
Click the Edit button to go through the space setup stages.
You can use this to add missing information or change information you previously entered.
View a Space
Click the View button, represented by the eye icon, to view the space's details and deals.
The details of a space may include its current active contract, if there is one.
The pricing displayed for the space uses the first payment option attached to the space.
More Actions
Click More to see additional actions available for the space.
These can include:
-
Publish.
-
Preview.
-
Close.
-
Duplicate.
-
Cover Duration.
-
Archive.
Let's look at these actions in more detail.
Publishing, Previewing, and Closing
From the More actions menu, you can manage the publication state of the space.
Publish
Publishes the space and makes it available for acquisition when all applicable requirements are met.
Preview
Publishes the space as a preview.
This is useful when you want guests to know about the space before it is ready for acquisition.
Close
Closes an already published space so it is no longer available for acquisition.
Duplicating a Space
The Duplicate feature allows you to clone an existing space instead of creating a similar space from scratch.
This is especially useful when you have several spaces that are similar.
For example, imagine you manage a hotel with 20 rooms that have nearly identical configurations.
Instead of going through every setup stage for each room, you can create one room, configure it, and then duplicate it.
The duplicated space contains the copied configuration, allowing you to make only the changes that are specific to the new space.
Tip: Duplication is particularly useful for spaces of the same type or spaces with similar configurations. It can save you a significant amount of time when creating multiple listings.
Note: Duplicated spaces are saved as drafts. You must review and publish the cloned space before it becomes available for acquisition. The name of a duplicated space has - Copy added to it. Remember to edit the name and remove or change the - Copy text before publishing the space.
Cover Duration
Cover Duration allows you to specify periods when a space should not be available for acquisition while the space itself remains published.
For example, you may want to temporarily make a space unavailable during a particular period without closing the entire listing.
You can use Cover Duration to add these unavailable periods.
The Covered Durations section shows the periods that have already been added.
This is useful for temporarily blocking availability while keeping the space published.
Archiving a Space
Archiving allows you to remove a space from your normal dashboard view without deleting it.
An archived space will no longer appear in your regular space listings unless you specifically choose to view archived spaces.
This can be useful for spaces that you no longer actively manage but still want to retain for record-keeping or future reference.
Space Publishing States
Spaces can have different publishing states depending on where they are in their lifecycle.
The available states include:
-
draft -
published -
preview -
closed -
purchased
Draft
The space is still being prepared and has not been published for acquisition.
Published
The space has been published and is available for acquisition, subject to its configuration and availability.
Preview
The space has been published as a preview and is intended to be visible before it is ready for actual acquisition.
Closed
The space has been closed and is no longer available for acquisition.
Purchased
The space has been acquired through a purchase.
Important:
A purchased space cannot be published again.
Completing Your Space
Creating a space is more than simply giving it a name and price.
A complete listing should provide guests with enough information to understand what they are acquiring.
Before publishing, make sure you have:
-
Added accurate initial details.
-
Selected the correct currency.
-
Added the required gallery content.
-
Attached at least one payment option.
-
Added relevant features.
-
Added subspaces where appropriate.
-
Highlighted important restrictions.
-
Attached applicable extras.
-
Attached applicable local taxes.
-
Reviewed your information.
-
Confirmed that you have the right to list the space.
Once everything is ready, you can publish your space and make it available for guests to discover and acquire.
Build it carefully, describe it clearly, and let your guests know exactly what they're acquiring. π β¨
